 Heat Stroke
Do you work hard or work out on hot summer
days? Then you’re at risk for heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Symptoms include headache, rapid pulse, dilated pupils, nausea,
confusion, convulsions or loss of consciousness. You may not
realize the danger until it's too late—and that could mean brain
damage or death.
If you experience any of these symptoms, cool down. Lay in the
shade, sponge off with cool water and drink a salty sports
drink. But don’t reach for a cold beer. Alcohol increases your
risk for heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Seniors and people
with heart, kidney or lung disease also have a higher risk for
heatstroke.
